The oak tree is filled with vibrant tradition indicated by the rings in its trunk tracking the passage of time; however, the rings don’t just represent tradition, they also represent growth. Every new ring is a new generation of families, friends, and individuals working together in the community to progress towards a better future. The oak tree is a resounding example of growth wrapped in tradition. Theatre, like the oak tree, is ever changing, ever growing. Theatre challenges and expands ideas and culture. Similar to the rings of an oak tree, we see works of art representing a time in history, a snapshot of culture, a community depicted in vibrant colors. The oak tree and theatre both exist as history and growth simultaneously reminding us of what came before and what has yet to be. We want to emulate the oak tree in everything we do at New Oak Theatre: weaving history and innovation in every fiber of our journey.
