Explore current audition opportunities and employment openings at New Oak Theatre. We welcome talented actors, stage managers, and theatre professionals from Savannah and beyond to join our productions.
New Oak Theatre is committed to creating inclusive, professional theatre experiences in Savannah, Georgia. We believe in fostering a supportive audition environment where actors can showcase their talents and connect with our artistic vision. Whether you're an experienced professional or an emerging artist, we encourage you to audition for our productions.
Our casting process typically begins with self-tape submissions, allowing actors from Savannah and surrounding areas to audition on their own schedule. Selected candidates are invited to in-person callbacks where they'll work directly with our directors and have the opportunity to explore their characters more deeply. We value authenticity, preparation, and collaborative spirit in all our performers.
All audition notices include detailed character breakdowns, submission requirements, and production schedules. We strive to maintain clear communication throughout the casting process and provide timely responses to all applicants. New Oak Theatre is proud to offer professional compensation for our performers and crew, supporting the growth of sustainable theatre careers in the Savannah community.
Review each notice thoroughly. Prepare a concise 30-second monologue and/or 32-bar song cut unless the posting specifies different material. Select pieces that resonate with the show style (era, genre, emotional tone) and clearly present your strengths. A simple slate (name, role, pieces) helps us organize submissions.
Record in a quiet, evenly lit space framed mid-chest upward. Avoid harsh backlight and cluttered backgrounds. Use a stable camera (tripod or propped phone) and ensure clean audio. Upload as an unlisted YouTube video and email the link before the deadline with your name, pronouns (optional), and desired role(s). Clear filenames make reviewing faster.
Submission acknowledgement may be brief; callback invitations include time windows and materials. Final casting decisions typically follow within two weeks of callbacks. Lack of a role offer does not reflect future suitability—please submit again for later productions.
Callbacks are hands-on. You’ll read short scenes ("sides") with other actors, try out a few different choices based on notes, and—if it’s a musical—sing a brief extra cut. Any movement is simple and story-focused unless we say otherwise. We’re looking for clear listening, honest reactions, and how comfortably you connect with a partner.
Bring water, note-taking materials, and wear comfortable clothing that allows expressive but grounded physicality. Arrive early to acclimate and warm up. Respectful, positive energy enhances the experience for everyone involved.
If timing conflicts arise, notify us promptly—limited alternate arrangements (additional tape or reschedule) are sometimes possible.
After callbacks, offers are issued via email; some roles may remain briefly pending. We aim to notify all callback participants of casting decisions as soon as possible.
