New Oak Theatre is committed to hiring actors who reflect the diversity of our world. Actors of all backgrounds, races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, ages, and abilities are encouraged to audition.
PREPARATION
Please prepare EITHER a short monologue OR a short song from your book OR a 90-second monologue and 32-bars of a song. Auditions should not exceed 2 1/2 minutes total. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring a copy of your headshot and resume.

SYNOPSIS: She Loves Me is a romantic comedy set in a 1930s Budapest perfumery, it follows two feuding co-workers who unknowingly write passionate love letters to each other as anonymous pen pals.
SEEKING:
Arpad Laszlo - 14-17 - Male - Delivery boy at Maraczek's Parfumerie. His exuberance is infectious and commitment to his job remarkable. He is ambitious and adorable. Bb2-E4.
Ladislav Sipos - 45-55- Male - Not the brightest employee at Maraczek's Parfumerie. A confidant to Georg, he is an optimistic family man who looks like a huggable father. A2-E4.
Ilona Ritter - 25-30 - Female - Employed at Maraczek's Parfumerie. She is sexy and learned in the ways of romance, but longing for something more from the game of love. F#3-E5.
Steven Kodaly - 25-30 - Male - A well respected and liked employee at Maraczek's Parfumerie. Though he is considered dapper and occasionally charming, he is more of a shallow womanizer. B2-A4.
Georg Nowack - 25-30 - Male - An established employee of Maraczek's Parfumerie, he resembles a hopeless romantic. Shy, intelligent, and soft spoken. B2-F4.
Mr. Maraczek - 55-65 - Male - Owner of Maraczek's Parfumerie. With a commanding presence, his dedication to the trade is rivaled only by his faithfulness to his wife. B2-C4.
Chorus - We are seeking four skilled dancers/singers to fill out our chorus.

SYNOPSIS: Barefoot in the Park is a comedic play by Neil Simon that revolves around the lives and dynamics of newlyweds Corie and Paul Bratter as they navigate the challenges of married life in a small New York City apartment.
SEEKING:
Corie Bratter - 20-30 - Female - A carefree young newlywed, busily trying to set up and decorate the new home she shares with her husband, Paul. She may be flighty, or over-enthusiastic, but not a fool.
Paul Bratter - 25-35 - Male - Corie's husband, a young lawyer with a dry wit. Unlike Corie, he likes to stay in his comfort zone. Conventional. Wants to be a good husband by being a good provider. Very much in love with Corie. Sometimes matter of fact, but never cold.
Ethel Banks - 40-65 - Female - Corie's cautious mother who is willing to endure anything for her daughter. Now that Corie is out of the nest, Ethel lives alone and struggles to find her role. She is very sharp, with a good, dry wit of her own.
Victor Velasco - 40-60 - Male - The Bratters' eccentric, bohemian neighbor who lives in the attic of the brownstone, just above their apartment. Fancies himself a lady's man, and can be very charming.
Telephone Installer - 30-60 - Male - A good-humored man who makes observations on everyday life and relationships as he installs and fixes telephones.
Delivery Person - 55+ - Male - An older person who brings wedding gifts sent to the Bratters-and is exhausted by all the flights of stairs leading up to the apartment.

SYNOPSIS: Next to Normal centers on a mother who struggles with worsening bipolar disorder and the effects that managing her illness has on her family. The musical addresses grief, depression, suicide, drug abuse, ethics in modern psychiatry, and the underbelly of suburban life.
SEEKING:
Diana - 40-45 - Female - Delusional, bipolar, and depressed. The sexiness of her yesterdays has only recently begun to soften. She is determined to make her family perfect but is tortured by a death in the family. G3-F#5.
Gabe - 18-21 - Male - Diana & Dan's son. Dashing, athletic, and bright. He is a playful man and everything a mother could imagine. B2-C5.
Dan - 40-45 - Male - Diana's husband. He is handsome and genuine. Though a constant in Diana's tumultuous life, he has grown tired and weary of her antics. Ab2-B4.
Natalie - 16 - Female - Diana & Dan's troubled daughter. An accomplished pianist and hardworking student, her struggles are exacerbated by her mother's behavior. She greatly admires Henry. G3-G5.
Henry - 17 - Male - Natalie's classmate. The all-around musician, philosopher, and slacker. He has an intoxicating capacity for sympathy and romance. G#2-B4.
Dr. Madden - 30-40 - Male - Diana's handsome psychiatrist. Quite assured in his practice and considered somewhat of a rock star. A2-A4.

SYNOPSIS: Long Day's Journey into Night is the 1956 autobiographical four-act masterwork by American playwright Eugene O'Neill. Set in August 1912 at a Connecticut summer home, the play portrays a harrowing single day in the life of the dysfunctional Tyrone family as they grapple with addiction, illness, and deep-seated resentments.
SEEKING:
James Tyrone - 65 - Male - A successful actor whose deep-seated fear of poverty—rooted in a destitute childhood—turned him into a notorious miser, sacrificing his artistic potential for commercial safety and financial security.
Mary Cavan Tyrone - 54 - Female - A fragile, heartbroken woman trapped in a decades-long morphine addiction that worsened due to a cheap doctor's prescription after Edmund's birth, haunted by her lost youth and abandoned dream of becoming a concert pianist.
Jamie Tyrone - 33 - Male - A cynical, failed actor and alcoholic who squanders money on brothels and bars, eaten away by bitterness, guilt, and a deeply conflicted jealousy and love for his younger brother.
Edmund Tyrone - 23 - Male - The semi-autobiographical stand-in for O'Neill, a sensitive, poetic soul suffering from consumption (tuberculosis) who yearns to be a true writer.
