New Oak Theatre, Savannah’s professional stage theatre company, served up a night of unforgettable entertainment and community spirit at their special event, Broadway and Bites, held at Zunzi’s. Over 100 guests gathered for an evening of live Broadway music, good food, and a glimpse into the ambitious future of this rising theatre company.
The cabaret-style performance featured a talented cast of vocalists including Ryan McCurdy, Joanna Walchuk, Christopher Stanley, Tegan Miller, Chase Brackett, and Sarah Brackett, accompanied by the acclaimed Assaf Gleizner on keys. Together, they delivered powerful renditions of beloved Broadway classics from Les Misérables, Hamilton, West Side Story, Little Shop of Horrors, and more—drawing cheers, laughter, and even a few misty eyes from the crowd.
Adding to the spirit of the evening, 26% of all food and drink sales went directly to support New Oak Theatre, creating a meaningful way for patrons to give back while enjoying the show. Zunzi’s vibrant atmosphere and generous support provided the perfect backdrop for the evening’s festivities.
Artistic Director Chase Brackett took a moment mid-show to present an inspiring slideshow outlining the theatre’s exciting future. Plans include the launch of a children’s theatre program, Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) tours to local schools, a dynamic season of fully staged productions with multiple weekly performances, and the development of a daytime café in the theatre lobby to further engage the community.
