New Oak Theatre Featured in OnStage Savannah Spotlight
August 4, 2026
New Oak Theatre is thrilled to be featured in OnStage Savannah's Spotlight series! Their latest feature, "Another Openin', Another Show!" by Gwen Leahy, shines a light on New Oak's journey and our plans to open a new home for live theatre in Savannah's Starland District.
The article takes a closer look at the vibrant arts community in Savannah and the need for more dedicated spaces where local artists can create and perform. While our city is filled with incredible talent and entertainment, dedicated performing arts venues can be harder to come by. That's one of the reasons we're so excited to be developing our own 80-seat black box theatre in Starland.
After previously producing our seasons at Tybee Post Theatre, New Oak is looking forward to expanding both our programming and our reach. Our new venue will allow us to present four to five performances each week while creating an intimate space where audiences and artists can experience live theatre together.
We're especially excited about our new home in the Starland District, a neighborhood that has become an increasingly vibrant center for Savannah's creative community. As Associate Artistic Director Sarah Brackett shared with OnStage Savannah, the artistic energy of the neighborhood is exactly the kind of environment where great theatre can flourish.
Most of all, we're incredibly grateful for the support we've received from Savannah's arts community as we work toward opening our doors. The response to our new venue has reminded us just how many talented, generous, and enthusiastic people are invested in creating something special here in Savannah.
We are honored that OnStage Savannah chose to spotlight New Oak Theatre and share our story with their readers. We're excited for what's ahead and can't wait to welcome Savannah into our new home!
